Removal Procedure

  1. Set the parking brake in Service Mode. Parking Brake Service Mode Selection
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1/5W4) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Steel Wheel) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Aluminum Wheel)

    {If equipped} Rear Brake Bleeder Valve Cap (1) - Remove

  6. {If equipped} Rear Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (2) @Rear Disc Brake Pad - Remove

    Electrical Connector (1) @Rear Parking Brake Actuator - Disconnect

    NOTE:

    DO NOT use any air tools to remove or install the guide pin bolts. Use hand tools ONLY.

    Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    CAUTION:

    Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to disconnect the rear brake hose.

    Remove the rear brake caliper (1) and support it with heavy mechanics wire.

    Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin (2) - Remove [2x]

  11. Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin Boot (1) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
