Cleaning and Inspection Procedure

- CAUTION:
After cleaning the transmission components, allow to air dry. Do not use cloth or paper towels in order to dry any transmission components. Lint from the towels can cause component failure.
CAUTION:Do not reuse cleaning solvents. Previously used solvents may deposit sediment which may damage the component.
Thoroughly clean the transmission case assembly, including case threads, with clean solvent.
- Clean gasket sealing surfaces. Remove all residual gasket material.
- Inspect all threaded holes. If necessary, repair any thread damage.
- Automatic Transmission Case - Front Sealing Surface (1) - Clean and inspect
- To service the manual shift shaft seal.
- Manual Shift Shaft Seal (2) - Clean and inspect
- Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness - Electrical Connector Passage Sleeve Bore (3) - Clean and inspect
- Transmission Fluid Filler Tube Plug - Fill Tube Bore (4) - Clean and inspect
- Clutch Housing Fluid Passage Seal - Surface (5) - Clean and inspect
- Automatic Transmission Fluid Pan - Sealing Surface (6) - Clean and inspect
- Automatic Transmission Case - Rear Sealing Surface (7) - Clean and inspect
