Single Use Fasteners and Components

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the right side top engine mount fastener. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (LGX - Coupe)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (LGX - Convertible)
  2. Engine Support Fixture 
  3. Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Coupe - LGX, LTG)
  4. Front Crossmember Brace Replacement (Coupe - LGX, LTG)Front Crossmember Brace Replacement (Convertible - LGX)
1 Engine Mount Nut
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Procedure 
Working under the hood, remove the engine mount upper fastening nut.
Tighten 
70 N.m (52 lb ft)
2 Engine Mount Bolt [2x]
CAUTION:

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

Procedure

  1. Remove and DISCARD the fasteners.
  2. Install NEW fasteners.

Tighten 
  1. First Pass: 58 N.m (43 lb ft)
  2. Final Pass: plus 60-75 degrees
3 Engine Mount

Procedure

  1. Using the engine support fixture, raise the engine enough to remove the engine mount.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the engine oil filter. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
  4. Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipe clip bolts and position cooler pipes aside. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX With M13, With 1LE Package)Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX With M5T, With V03)Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX With M5T, Without V03)
  5. Remove engine mount.

5 Phenolic Spacer
CAUTION:

Phenolic spacer must be present to prevent galvanic/corrosive reaction and/or excessive temperature conduction between engine mount bracket and engine mount. Replace mount if phenolic spacer is missing or damaged. Failure to ensure phenolic spacer is intact and not damaged can lead to premature failure of engine mount and/or engine mount bracket.


Procedure 
Inspect the engine mount to ensure the phenolic spacer is in place and not damaged.
