Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S45A Liftgate Control Switch - Exterior. Ignition ON
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 2 and B+.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 2050 or the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Test for greater than 7 V between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground
- If 7 V or less
- Test circuit 5797 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
- Test circuit 5797 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
- Go to next step: If greater than 7 V
- Disconnect the electrical connector: A23C Liftgate Latch
- Connect a test lamp between the test points: Control circuit terminal 3 & Ground
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Operate the component: S13D Door Lock Switch - Driver - Unlock Switch
- Momentarily install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 at the S45A Liftgate Control Switch - Exterior and ground.
Verify the test lamp flashes ON and OFF
- If the test lamp is always OFF
- Ignition OFF, remove the test lamp, disconnect the harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the circuit 6128 and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the circuit 6128 end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K9 Body Control Module
- If the test lamp is always ON
- Ignition OFF, remove the test lamp, disconnect the harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module, ignition ON.
- Test for less than 1 V between the circuit 6128 and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V, replace the K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns ON and OFF
- Connect a test lamp between the test points: Control circuit terminal 4 & B+
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Momentarily install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 at the S45A Liftgate Control Switch - Exterior and ground.
Verify the test lamp flashes ON and OFF
- If the test lamp is always OFF
- Ignition OFF, remove the test lamp, disconnect the harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module
- Test for less than 1 V between the circuit 2680 and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the circuit 2680 end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the lamp flashes ON and OFF
- Connect the harness connector at the S45A Liftgate Control Switch - Exterior. Ignition ON
- Operate the component: S45A Liftgate Control Switch - Exterior - Pressed
Verify the test lamp state:
Not Pressed = Test lamp Off
Pressed = Test lamp flashes ON and OFF
- If the test lamp is always OFF
Test or replace the S45A Liftgate Control Switch - Exterior
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns ON and OFF
- If the test lamp is always OFF
- Test or replace the component: A23C Liftgate Latch
NOTE:
Before testing can be performed the liftgate must be opened. Refer to Opening the Liftgate Without Electrical Power for the appropriate procedure.
