Installation Procedure

- Assemble the cylinder head. Cylinder Head Assemble
- Cylinder Head - Install - Cylinder Head Installation
Engine Wiring Harness (2) @ Cylinder Head - Install
- Engine Wiring Harness Ground Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)
- NOTE:
Support engine as necessary from underneath while repositioning the engine support fixture. Engine Support Fixture
Reposition the engine support fixture lift hook from the J-36857 Engine Lift Bracket (2) to the engine lift bracket (3).
- Remove the fastener (1) and J-36857 Engine Lift Bracket (2) from the engine block.
- Fuel Injection Fuel Rail - Install - Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement
Water Outlet (1) - Install - Water Outlet Replacement (LCV)
- Connect the exhaust camshaft position sensor. Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Exhaust
- Connect the intake camshaft position sensor. Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Intake
- Fuel Pump - Install - Fuel Pump Replacement
- Install the intake and exhaust camshaft, bearing cap, and lash adjusters. Intake and Exhaust Camshaft, Bearing Cap, and Lash Adjuster Installation
- Install the timing chain and tensioner. Camshaft Timing Chain and Tensioner Replacement
Engine Front Cover (1) - Install - Engine Front Cover Replacement
- Exhaust Manifold - Install - Exhaust Manifold Replacement (LCV)
Intake Manifold (3) - Install - Intake Manifold Replacement
- Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LCV, LGX) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 LCV, LGX)
