Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Clean all sealing surfaces.
- Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant
- NOTE:
- The timing chain upper cover sealing surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
- Install and align the timing chain upper cover to engine block within 10 minutes of applying the sealer.
- The timing chain upper cover must be fastened to final torque specification within 15 minutes of applying the sealer.
- Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant
Apply approximately a 5 mm (0.2 in) thick bead of sealant (2) on both sides between the camshaft housing and the cylinder head. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Check that the 2 Pins (1) are in the camshaft housing or in the timing chain upper cover.
Timing Chain Upper Cover Seal (1) - Install NEW
- Timing Chain Upper Cover (2) - Install
Timing Chain Upper Cover Bolt - M6 (3) - Install
- Timing Chain Upper Cover Bolt - M5 (2) - Install [11x]

CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Timing Chain Upper Cover Bolt - M6 (2) - Tighten 15 N.m (11 lb ft)
- Timing Chain Upper Cover Bolt - M5 (1) - Tighten [11x] 8.5 N.m (75 lb in)
Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Gasket (2) - Install NEW [2x]
- Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Solenoid (1, 3) - Install [2x]
- Camshaft Position Actuator Valve Solenoid Bolt (4) - Install and tighten [4x] 8.5 N.m (75 lb in)
Engine Wiring Harness (3) - Reposition
- Retainer (1) @ Timing Chain Upper Cover (2) - Install [4x]
Oil Filler Tube (2) - Install - Oil Filler Tube Replacement
- Air Cleaner Assembly - Install - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
