Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Drain the coolant. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LSY) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 LSY)
  3. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)

    Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Remove - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

  5. Battery Tray - Remove - Battery Tray Replacement
  6. Fuel Feed Pipe @ Fuel Feed Front Pipe - Disconnect - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (FWD)

    Evaporative Emission Front Pipe (1) @ Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Hose - Disconnect - Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement (FWD)

  8. Heater Outlet Hose @ Radiator Surge Tank - Disconnect - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  9. Heater Inlet Hose @ Heater Core - Disconnect - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  10. Heater Outlet Hose @ Heater Core - Disconnect - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  11. Radiator Inlet Hose - Remove - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LSY)

    Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube (3) - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Replacement

  13. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement
  14. Radiator Outlet Hose - Remove - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  15. Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Disconnect - Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement (LSY)

    Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable (4) @ Automatic Transmission - Disconnect - Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement

    Engine Wiring Harness Connector (1) @ Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor - Disconnect

  18. Engine Wiring Harness Connector (2) @ Air Conditioning Refrigerant Pressure Sensor - Disconnect

    Engine Wiring Harness Connector (1) @ Cooling Fan - Disconnect

  21. Transmission Control Module - Disconnect - Transmission Control Module Replacement

    Engine Wiring Harness (1) @ Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block - Disconnect - Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block Replacement

    Engine Wiring Harness (1) @ Body Wiring Harness (2) - Disconnect

  24. Reposition the engine wiring harness onto the engine.
  25. NOTE:

    It is not necessary to install the engine support fixture. The engine mount and transmission mount will remain in place until the powertrain is supported by the propulsion system lift table.

  26. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Remove - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (FWD)
  27. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Left Side - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
  28. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Right Side - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (LSY with FWD)

  30. Engine Mount - Remove - Engine Mount Replacement 
  31. Transmission Mount - Remove - Transmission Mount Replacement (Left)
  32. NOTE:

    Ensure adequate clearance between the powertrain assembly and surrounding components is maintained during powertrain removal.

  33. Slowly lower the support table until the powertrain assembly is clear of the vehicle.
  34. Remove the transmission from the engine. Transmission Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)
  35. Install the engine to a suitable engine stand.
  36. Transfer components as necessary.
