Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove J-21366  Torque Converter Holding Strap from the transmission.
  2. Install the replacement engine to the powertrain support table
  3. Install the transmission to the engine. Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  4. Position the powertrain and support table under the vehicle.
  5. Raise the support table to move the powertrain into it's installed position.
  6. Transmission Mount - Install - Transmission Mount Replacement (Left)
  7. Engine Mount - Install - Engine Mount Replacement

    Propulsion System Lift Table - Remove - Propulsion System Lift Table 

  9. Power Transfer Unit Case - Install - Power Transfer Unit Case Replacement
  10. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Left Side - Install - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
  11. Transmission Front Mount - Install - Transmission Front Mount Replacement
  12. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Install - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD)
  13. Reposition the engine wiring harness.

    Engine Wiring Harness (1) @ Body Wiring Harness (2) - Connect

    Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (3) - Install [2x]

    Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable (4) @ Automatic Transmission - Connect - Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement

  22. Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Connect - Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement (LSY)
  23. Radiator Outlet Hose - Install - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  24. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose - Install - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement
  25. Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Heat Exchanger Inlet and Outlet Hose @ Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Exchanger - Install - Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooling Exchanger Replacement (LSY)
  26. Starter - Install - Starter Replacement (LSY)

    Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube (3) - Install - Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Replacement

    Evaporative Emission Front Pipe (1) @ Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Hose - Connect - Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement (AWD)

  33. Fuel Feed Pipe @ Fuel Feed Front Pipe - Connect - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (AWD)
  34. Battery Tray - Install - Battery Tray Replacement

    Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Install - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

  36. Recharge the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
  37. Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LSY) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 LSY)
  38. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  39. NOTE:

    Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.

  40. If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the engine prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing 
  41. If the engine has not been replaced or overhauled, check and correct engine oil level as needed. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
  42. Perform the crankshaft position variation learn procedure. Crankshaft Position Variation Learn
  43. Perform the throttle learn procedure. Throttle Body Idle Air Flow Compensation Reset
