Balancing Procedure

NOTE:

The refrigerant oil in the A/C system must be balanced during compressor replacement.

NOTE:

Check the oil volume in the replacement compressor.

The replacement compressor is shipped partially filled with refrigerant oil. The amount of oil has to be balanced according to below:

  1. Refer to the amounts of refrigerant oil recorded during the compressor removal and refrigerant recovery.
  2. If the sum of the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor and the amount of oil removed during refrigerant recovery is:
    • Less than the oil volume in the replacement compressor, no balancing is required. Refill the replacement compressor with the amount removed. It contains the proper amount of oil.
    • More than the oil volume in the replacement compressor, additional oil is required. Subtract the oil volume in the replacement compressor from the sum of removed oil (oil drained + oil recovered). This calculated difference is the amount of service oil that needs to be added to the replacement compressor. Add the additional oil needed and install the replacement compressor.
