Installation Procedure
- Remove the engine from the engine stand with the engine lifting device.
- Use the engine lifting device to install the engine.
- Reposition harnesses, connect the electrical connections, and hoses as necessary.
Install the transmission bolt (1). Transmission Replacement
- Install the transmission stud (2). Transmission Replacement
Install the starter/generator battery cable retainer (1) to the transmission stud (2).
Engine Mount (2) - Install - Engine Mount Replacement
- Fuel Feed Front Pipe @ Fuel Feed Pipe - Connect
Transmission Converter Cover (2) - Install
- Transmission Bolt (1) - Install [4x] - Transmission Replacement
- Remove the transmission jack.
- Remove the engine lifting device.
- If the engine lift brackets were not present and EN-36857 engine lift brackets were installed, remove them.
Torque Converter Bolt (1) - Install NEW [3x] - Transmission Replacement
Electrical Connector (1) - Connect [2x]
Install the range selector lever cable (4) to the range selector lever cable lever.
- Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bolt (1) - Install - Transmission Replacement
- Depress the cable adjustment retainer (3) locking the retainer completely.
- Slide the retainer lock (2) rearward to cover the cable adjustment retainer (3).
- Range Selector Lever Cable - Adjust - Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment
- Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket- Lower - Install - Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (Lower LFV) , or Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (Upper LFV)
Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter (2) - Install - Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (LFV)
- Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket- Upper - Install - Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (Lower LFV) , or Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (Upper LFV)
- Turbocharger Heat Shield - Install - Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement
- Battery Tray - Install - Battery Tray Replacement (LFV)
- Engine Control Module - Install - Engine Control Module Replacement
Battery (3) - Install - Battery Replacement
- Starter - Install - Starter Replacement (LFV)
- Exhaust Front Pipe - Install - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LFV)
- Exhaust Pipe Front Hanger Bracket - Install - Exhaust Pipe Front Hanger Bracket Replacement
- Install the air conditioning compressor to the engine. Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LFV)
Water Pump and Air Conditioning Compressor and Generator Belt (2) - Install - Water Pump, Air Conditioning Compressor, and Generator Belt Replacement
- Front Compartment Air Deflector - Install - Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement
- Front Compartment Splash Shield - Install - Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement
- Front Wheelhouse Liner- Right Side - Install - Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (LFV, LTG)
- Front Wheelhouse Liner- Left Side - Install - Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Left Side
Connect the heater inlet hose (3) and heater outlet hose (4) to the water outlet. Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (2) @ Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe - Connect
Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing - Connect - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @ Water Outlet - Connect - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube (2) - Install
- Retainer Spring (1) @ Charge Air Cooler - Engage
Retainer Spring (1) @ Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger - Engage
- Air Cleaner Outlet Duct - Reposition
Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Install
- Electrical Connector @ Air Cleaner Assembly - Connect
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) - Tighten [2x] - Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
Charge Air Cooler Coolant Outlet Pipe (2) - Install
- Retainer Spring (1) @ Charge Air Cooler - Engage
Retainer Spring (2) @ Throttle Body - Engage
- Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Bracket Bolt (1) - Install - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement
Radiator Outlet Hose Clip (1) @ Charge Air Cooler Outlet Pipe (2) - Engage
- Intake Manifold Cover - Install - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
Hood (2) - Install - Hood Replacement
- Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Without KL9) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With KL9)
Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. (1) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled. Engine Prelubing
- If engine has not been replaced of overhauled, fill the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Perform the crankshaft position variation learn. Crankshaft Position Variation Learn
Carefully move the air cleaner outlet duct with the positive crankcase ventilation tubes attached into position.
