Removal Procedure

Remove the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement .
Using a pointed tool, evenly lift the brake pedal pivot retaining cap springs (1) approximately 5.0 mm (0.20 in).

NOTE:

The left and right brake pedal pivot retainers are different. Observe which side of the brake pedal pivot each retainer is located.

Using a flat bladed tool, carefully drive the upper and lower tabs through the brake pedal bracket and remove the left brake pedal retainer (1).
Using a flat bladed tool, carefully drive the upper and lower tabs through the brake pedal bracket and remove the right brake pedal retainer (1).
Compress the locking tabs on the power vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer (1) and remove the brake pedal (2).
