Installation Procedure

  1. GM3282848

    Align the brake pedal pivot notches with the keyways (1) in the brake pedal bracket.

  2. GM3282845

    Install the power vacuum brake booster retainer (1).

  3. Install the brake pedal (2) to the brake pedal bracket.
  4. Ensure the brake pedal pivot is fully seated in the brake pedal bracket.
    5. NOTE:

    The plastic brake pedal pivot retainers must be installed squarely into the brake pedal bracket. Do not attempt to install the retainers at an angle.

  5. GM3282843

    Select and install the right brake pedal retainer (1).

  6. GM3282839

    Select and install the left brake pedal retainer (1).

  7. GM3282836

    Secure the brake pedal pivot retaining cap springs (1) by pressing the springs downward evenly.

  8. Confirm that the brake pedal operates smoothly fore and aft.
  9. Secure the brake pedal to the power vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer.
  10. Ensure the power vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer locking tabs are fully engaged in the brake pedal.
  11. Install the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement .
