Micrometer Method

  1. Install the main bearing caps and tighten the main bearing cap bolts to specification.
  2. Measure the main bearing bore inside diameter in several places, 90 degrees apart, and average the measurements for each bore.
  3. Measure the crankshaft main bearing journal diameter in several places, 90 degrees apart, and average the measurements for each journal.
  4. Select the correct crankshaft bearings for each journal. Refer to Crankshaft Bearing Selection Specifications .
