    WARNING:

Avoid unnecessary contact between the fuel feed intermediate pipes and any other parts. This could cause damage to the mating joints. Damage to the mating joints may cause a fuel leak. A fuel leak could cause an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine and vehicle damage, and possible injury or death.

    CAUTION:

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    CAUTION:

Fuel feed intermediate pipes will be delivered with shipping caps that are meant to protect the mating joint threads. Do NOT remove shipping caps until the pipe is to be installed and joints are to be secured. Failure to do so could result in damage to the mating threads.

    NOTE:
    • DO NOT reuse the fuel feed intermediate pipe - position 1 (1). If the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings are loosened or the pipes are removed, the pipes must be replaced.
    • The tighten ing order and torque are critical to proper fuel system fit and function. Be sure to follow installation and tighten ing steps exactly.

Install the NEW fuel feed intermediate pipe - position 1 (1) by starting both fuel feed intermediate pipe - position 1 fitting nuts (2 and 3) to finger-tight only. For each end, begin by sliding the nut back along the pipe to reveal the sphere. Carefully seat the sphere in the mating socket and hold the sphere firmly in the socket while finger tighten ing the nut. This will avoid dislodging any wax from the pipe nut threads and ensure a proper seal.

  2. Install the fuel feed pipe bolt (4) and hand tighten only.
  3. tighten the LH fuel feed intermediate pipe fitting nut (2) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
  4. tighten the RH fuel feed intermediate pipe fitting nut (3) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
  5. tighten the fuel feed pipe bolt (4) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

    NOTE:
    • DO NOT reuse the fuel feed intermediate pipe - position 2 (1). If the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings are loosened or the pipes are removed, the pipes must be replaced.
    • The tighten ing order and torque are critical to proper fuel system fit and function. Be sure to follow installation and tighten ing steps exactly.

Install the NEW fuel feed intermediate pipe - position 2 (1). Hold the pipe in install position and first, finger- tighten fuel pipe fitting nut (2). Begin by sliding the nut back along the pipe to reveal the sphere. Carefully seat the sphere in the mating socket on the fuel pump and hold the sphere firmly in the socket while finger tighten ing the nut. This will avoid dislodging any wax from the pipe nut threads and ensure a proper seal.

  7. Finger- tighten fuel pipe fitting nut (3).
  8. tighten the fuel feed intermediate pipe - position 2 fitting at the fuel pump (2) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
  9. tighten the remaining fuel feed intermediate pipe - position 2 fitting (3) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

    WARNING:

The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise cancelling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.

Install the fuel pump insulator (1).
