Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LC8, LV1, L96) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE47716 LC8, LV1, L96)
  2. Power Steering Pump Bracket - Remove - Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement

    Fuel Rail (1) -Left Side - Remove - Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1

    Exhaust Manifold (1) -Left Side - Remove - Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LV1)

  5. Remove the valve rocker arm and push rod. Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement

    Oil Level Indicator Tube (2) -lower - Remove - Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (Lower) 

  7. Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary.

    NOTE:

    DISCARD all cylinder head bolts.

    Remove the cylinder head bolts (1, 2).

  9. Remove cylinder head (3).
  10. Remove and DISCARD cylinder head gasket (4). Replacing Engine Gaskets 
  11. For cleaning and inspection, refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .
  12. For cylinder head disassemble, refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .
