Pitman Arm

- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
Install the base of the J-7872 Magnetic Base Dial Indicator(3), or equivalent, to the vehicle at the location shown above.
- Install the dial indicator J-7872 Magnetic Base Dial Indicator(1), or equivalent, to the steering linkage relay rod(2)with the contact point at the location shown above.
- Zero the J-7872 Magnetic Base Dial Indicator.
- Using a pry bar, induce an upward and downward motion on the steering linkage relay rod(2).
- Record the measurement shown on the J-7872 Magnetic Base Dial Indicator.
- If the movement exceeds 1.0 mm (0.039 in), replace the pitman arm. Pitman Arm Replacement
