Installation Procedure

    Wipe the steering gear housing openings clean.

  2. Install a NEW steering gear pitman shaft seal (3). Steering Gear Pitman Shaft Seal and Bearing Replacement - Off Vehicle

    Install a NEW steering gear pitman shaft housing cover O-ring seal (4).

  4. Install the steering gear pitman shaft housing cover (3).
    5. NOTE:

    Tighten the steering gear pitman shaft lash adjuster nut when measuring and adjusting the steering gear pitman shaft over-center preload

  5. Install the steering gear pitman shaft lash adjuster nut (2).
    6. CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution .

  6. Install the 4 steering gear pitman shaft housing cover bolts (1) and tighten to 62 N.m (46 lb ft).

    Pitman Arm(3) - Install - Pitman Arm Replacement

  8. Measure and adjust the steering gear pitman shaft over-center preload. Steering Gear Pitman Shaft Over-Center Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle 
  9. Steering Gear - Install - Steering Gear Replacement (Without LWN) , or Steering Gear Replacement (With LWN)
