Removal Procedure
- Before removing parts, support the opposite end. This helps prevent the vehicle from slipping off.
- Before removing major components, chain the vehicle frame to the hoist pads at the same end as the removal. This helps avoid a tip-off.
- Intermediate steering shaft - Do not allow the shaft to extend more than 25 mm (1 in).
- Fuel tank filler hose - Do not stretch the hose excessively.
- Tail/Turn signal lamp wiring/rear lamps junction block - Leave slack in the wires.
- Park brake cable - Leave slack in the cable.
- Body ground straps - Leave slack in the wire.
- Chain the vehicle frame to the hoist pads at all four contact points.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LWN) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 LWN) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static LC8, LV1, L96) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE47716 LC8, LV1, L96)
- Fuel Tank Filler Pipe - Remove - Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Replacement (Passenger/Cargo) , or Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Replacement (Chassis Cab Front Tank) , or Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Replacement (Chassis Cab Rear Tank)
- Spare Tire - Remove
- Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Without Dual Rear Wheels) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With Dual Rear Wheels)
Hose Clamp (1) - Disengage [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
- Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose (2) @ Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose - Remove
Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose Clip Bolt (1) @ Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose (2) - Remove
Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose Clip Bolt (1) @ Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose (2) - Remove
Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose Clip Bolt (1) @ Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose (2) - Remove
Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose Clip Nut (1) @ Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose - Remove
- Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose Clip (2) @ Underbody Cross Sill - Remove
Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose Clip Nut (1) - Remove
- Hose Clamp (2) - Disengage [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type
- Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose (3) @ Auxiliary Heater Core - Remove
- Remove the four most rearward left side body mounts. Body Mount Upper and Lower Cushion Replacement
- Remove the three most rearward right side body mounts. Body Mount Upper and Lower Cushion Replacement
- Loosen, but do not remove the remaining three left side body mounts. Body Mount Upper and Lower Cushion Replacement
- NOTE:
All jack stands must remain under the vehicle during the removal and installation.
Position jack stands (1) [4x] and wood blocks under the body of the vehicle at each corner.
- Adjust the left rear jack stand so it is slightly higher than the other jack stands.
- Carefully lower the vehicle onto the jack stands to raise the left rear of the body just enough to remove the auxiliary air conditioning evaporator hose from the vehicle.
- Auxiliary Heater Inlet and Outlet Hose - Remove
Provide additional support when a vehicle is on a hoist in the following ways:

When you remove the body cushions, do NOT separate the frame from the body more than is necessary. Possible personal injury and damage to multiple parts may result if you do not follow the guides outlined below:
