Timing Belt Installation

• EN-50025  Pulley Holding Wrench
• EN-51265  Crankshaft Locking Tool
• EN-51025  Camshaft Timing Tool

   Ensure that the timing mark on the crankshaft timing pulley (1) is aligned at 90 degrees ATDC with the mark on the front cover (1).

   Install EN-51265  locking tool (1).

   Install EN-51025  timing tool (1) on the exhaust camshaft.

   Align the fuel injection pump pulley timing notch (1) with the notch on the front cover (2).

   Remove EN-51265  locking tool (1).

   NOTE:

   • Relieve the tensioner in order to fit the belt over the pulleys.
   • The Intake Camshaft Pulley must be loose in order to install the timing belt, otherwise it will not fit over the tensioner pulley.

   Install the timing belt over the pulleys in the following order:

   1. Crankshaft
   2. Injector pump
   3. Water pump
   4. Camshaft
   5. Tensioner

   Move the tensioner pulley by rotating the plate (1) counterclockwise until the pointer (2) is positioned in the groove at the edge of the index (3), within 1 mm, dimension (a).

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

8. Tighten the timing belt tensioner to 28 N. m (21 lb ft).

   NOTE:

   EN-51025  holding tool is not designed for tightening applications. Always use EN-50025  wrench when tightening the pulley bolt.

   Hold the camshaft timing pulley with the EN-50025  wrench (1) and tighten the retaining bolt.

   1. Tighten the bolt a first pass to 20 N. m (15 lb ft).
   2. Tighten the bolt a final pass an additional 60 degrees.

    Remove the EN-51025  timing tool.

11. Rotate the engine two full revolutions to ensure proper alignment of timing marks.
NOTE:

Ensure the plug is fully seated in the bore.

12. Install the NEW camshaft plug (1).
