Removal Procedure

  1. Prepare the brake system control module for removal with Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator - Left Side - Remove - Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side
  3. Brake Pedal Position Sensor - Remove - Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement

    CAUTION:

    Do not apply brake pedal when Brake Master Cylinder Pushrod is not connected to the brake pedal. This action can bend a Brake Master Cylinder Pushrod requiring a NEW Brake Master Cylinder be installed.

    Disengage the brake master cylinder push rod (2) from the brake pedal push rod retainer (3) by pulling the brake pedal (1) rearwards.

  5. Remove and DISCARD the brake pedal push rod retainer (3).
  6. Secure the brake pedal towards the driver seat in the rearmost position.

    Front Compartment Rear Access Cover (2) - Remove - Front Compartment Rear Access Cover Replacement

    Battery (1) - Remove - Battery Replacement

    Battery Tray (1) - Remove - Battery Tray Replacement

  10. Electrical Connector @ Brake Fluid Level Sensor - Disconnect
  11. Electrical Connector @ Brake System Control Module - Disconnect
  12. Remove and properly dispose of the brake fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir.

    NOTE:

    Label the brake pipes to ensure they are re-installed in the correct ports of the brake pressure modulator valve.

    Front and Rear Brake Front Pipe Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

  14. Cap the front and rear brake front pipes to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  15. Plug the brake pressure modulator valve inlet ports to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

    Front Brake Pipe Fitting Bolt (1) - Remove

  17. Front Brake Pipe Bracket (2) - Reposition

    Brake Master Cylinder Bracket Nut (1) - Remove [3x]

    Brake Master Cylinder Assembly (1) - Remove

  20. Transfer components as necessary.

    Brake Master Cylinder Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]

  22. Brake Master Cylinder Bracket (1) - Remove and DISCARD
