Installation Procedure
- Install the engine to the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (M13 with LGX Engine) .
- Place the powertrain and frame assembly on the engine support table.
- Secure the powertrain to the support table using straps and binders.
- With the aid of an assistant, carefully lower the body onto the powertrain assembly.
- Ensure when lowering the body the following items are clear from the frame:
- Vacuum lines
- Steering knuckles
- Electrical wiring harnesses
- Oil cooler lines
- Install the drivetrain and front suspension cradle with the powertrain attached. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (LGX - Coupe) , or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (LGX - Convertible) .
- Remove the engine support table.
- If equipped with V03, connect the transmission fluid cooler inlet and outlet pipe at the air conditioning condenser. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX With M13, With 1LE Package) , or Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX With M5T, With V03) , or Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGX With M5T, Without V03)
- Complete installation of the transmission. Transmission Replacement (M13 with LGX Engine) .
- Catalytic Converter - Install [2x] - Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LT1, LT4) , and Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LT1, LT4)
- Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield - Install - Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement
- Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield - Install - Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Coupe - LGX, LTG)
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the engine cooling fan electrical connector.
Air Conditioning Compressor Hose (1) @Air Conditioning Compressor - Connect - Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LGX without J6G) , or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LGX with J6G)
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor (1) - Connect
- Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube - Install - Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement
Fuel Line (1) @Fuel Feed Pipe - Connect - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (LGX at Engine) , or Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (Fuel Tank To Engine LGX)
Heater Outlet Hose (1) @Radiator Surge Tank - Connect
- Heater Outlet Hose (1) @Heater Core - Connect
Heater Inlet Hose (1) @Heater Core - Connect
- Remove mechanics wire that supported the radiator assembly to the vehicle body.
- Reposition and connect harnesses as necessary.
Radiator Outlet Hose (1) - Install - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX without V18) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX with V18) , or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LGX with KC4 without V18)
Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose (2) @Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe - Connect
Radiator Inlet Hose (2) @Water Outlet - Connect
Attach the coolant heater cord harness retainer (1) from the right side front end sheet metal diagonal brace.
- Position the engine harness and attach retainers.
Install the battery terminal (1) to the jump start post. Battery Negative Cable Extension Cable Replacement (LGX)
Electrical Connector (1) @Transmission Control Module - Connect
- Attach the harness retainer (2).
- Engine Control Module Bracket - Install - Engine Control Module Bracket Replacement
- Install the engine wiring harness junction block. Engine Wiring Harness Junction Block Replacement
- Install both front wheelhouse liners. Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
- Intake Manifold Insulator - Install - Intake Manifold Insulator Replacement
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)
- Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing
- Charge the A/C system. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) , or Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.
