Removal Procedure

    Remove the front compartment lower noise shield (3) from the vehicle, if equipped. Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Coupe - LGX, LTG)

  2. Remove the fluid cooler pipe clip retainer.

    If equipped with an auxiliary cooler (Y4Q) Package) Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Fitting Retainer (1) @ Transmission - Left Side - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection

  4. NOTE:

    Cover or plug all open transmission fluid cooler pipe connection points to help avoid any accidental contamination.

  5. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission - Left Side - Remove

    Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Fitting Retainer (1) @ Transmission - Right Side - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection

  7. NOTE:

    Cover or plug all open transmission fluid cooler pipe connection points to help avoid any accidental contamination.

  8. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe (2) @ Transmission - Right Side - Remove
  9. NOTE:

    Transmission jack is installed to transmission in this step.

  10. Disconnect the transmission control from the transmission. Transmission Control Replacement (M13)

    Disconnect the electrical connector from the transmission fluid temperature sensor (2).

    Disconnect the following electrical connectors:

    • Backup lamp switch (1)
    • Vehicle speed sensor (2)
  13. Disconnect the wiring harness retainers (3) from the transmission.
  14. Position the wiring harness (4) out of the way.

    Remove the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe (1) retaining clip from the clutch slave cylinder.

  16. CAUTION:

    Care must be taken when disassembling the clutch actuator cylinder hose connector from the clutch actuator cylinder. Do not remove, misposition, or damage the internal restrictor valve/Peak Torque Limiter (PTL). Operating a vehicle with a removed, mispositioned, or damaged PTL valve could result in severe driveline damage.

  17. Disconnect the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe (2) from the clutch slave cylinder. Plug the lower hose end.

    Remove the catalytic converter bracket (1) from the transmission. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (LGX)

    Remove the upper right (engine side) transmission clutch housing to engine fastener (1).

    Remove the seven lower transmission clutch housing to engine fasteners (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

    NOTE:

    Securely support the drivetrain and front suspension cradle with an adjustable jack.

    Loosen the front cradle bolts (1) one turn, remove the rear cradle bolts (3) completely, loosen the middle cradle bolts (2) enough to allow the rear of the cradle support to tilt down with the jack approximately 25 mm (1 in) (a).

  22. Remove the wiring harness retainers from the upper transmission clutch housing stud bolts.

    Remove the four upper transmission clutch housing to engine fasteners (1, 2, 3, 4).

  24. NOTE:

    Do not leave the engine tilted on its mounts for an extended amount of time.

  25. Remove the transmission from the vehicle. To clear the body structure, the front of the engine can be pushed up to tilt the engine and transmission.
  26. Flush and flow test the transmission oil cooler and lines. Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test and Flushing (V03) , or Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test and Flushing (Y4Q)
  27. Transfer components as necessary.
