Disconnect the electrical connector from the transmission fluid temperature sensor (2).
Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
- Backup lamp switch (1)
- Vehicle speed sensor (2)
- Disconnect the wiring harness retainers (3) from the transmission.
- Position the wiring harness (4) out of the way.
Remove the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe (1) retaining clip from the clutch slave cylinder.
- Disconnect the hydraulic clutch hose/pipe (2) from the clutch slave cylinder. Plug the lower hose end.
Remove the catalytic converter bracket (1) from the transmission. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Replacement (LGX)
Remove the upper right (engine side) transmission clutch housing to engine fastener (1).
Remove the seven lower transmission clutch housing to engine fasteners (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).
- NOTE:
Securely support the drivetrain and front suspension cradle with an adjustable jack.
Loosen the front cradle bolts (1) one turn, remove the rear cradle bolts (3) completely, loosen the middle cradle bolts (2) enough to allow the rear of the cradle support to tilt down with the jack approximately 25 mm (1 in) (a).
- Remove the wiring harness retainers from the upper transmission clutch housing stud bolts.
Remove the four upper transmission clutch housing to engine fasteners (1, 2, 3, 4).
- Remove the transmission from the vehicle. To clear the body structure, the front of the engine can be pushed up to tilt the engine and transmission.
- Flush and flow test the transmission oil cooler and lines. Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test and Flushing (V03) , or Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test and Flushing (Y4Q)
- Transfer components as necessary.
Cover or plug all open transmission fluid cooler pipe connection points to help avoid any accidental contamination.
Cover or plug all open transmission fluid cooler pipe connection points to help avoid any accidental contamination.
Transmission jack is installed to transmission in this step.
Care must be taken when disassembling the clutch actuator cylinder hose connector from the clutch actuator cylinder. Do not remove, misposition, or damage the internal restrictor valve/Peak Torque Limiter (PTL). Operating a vehicle with a removed, mispositioned, or damaged PTL valve could result in severe driveline damage.
Do not leave the engine tilted on its mounts for an extended amount of time.
