Circuit/System Verification

- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system:
- B14A Transmission Output Shaft Speed Sensor/B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor
- B25B Clutch Pedal Position Sensor
- B26 Crankshaft Position Sensor
- If a related DTC is set
- Go to next step: If a related DTC is not set
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Engine - Idling
- Transmission - In Gear
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Vehicle Speed = The value should change smoothly and gradually as the vehicle speed is increased and decreased.
- If the value does not change smoothly and gradually
Refer to: DTC P0502 or P0503
- Go to next step: If the value changes smoothly and gradually
- If the value does not change smoothly and gradually
- From a stop, accelerate until the transmission reaches gear 6 and then coast down to a stop.
Verify the scan tool parameter: Total Excessive Clutch Slip Time = 0 s
- If greater than 0 s
Refer to: Symptoms - Clutch
- Verify the following conditions do not exist:
- Reluctor Ring = Loose/Cracked/Misaligned
- Output Shaft Speed Sensor = Loose/Misaligned
- If a condition exists - Repair or replace as necessary
- If no condition exists - Refer to: Symptoms - Clutch
- Go to next step: If 0 s
- If greater than 0 s
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
Refer to: Symptoms - Clutch
- Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
CAUTION:
In order to avoid damage to the drive axles, support the lower control arms in the normal horizontal position. Do not run the vehicle in gear with the wheels hanging down at full travel.
