Component Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Static Test
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
- Test for 11 to 15 ohms between the test points: Control terminal 1/A & B+ terminal 2/B
- If not between 11 and 15 ohms
Replace the component: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
- Go to next step: If between 11 and 15 ohms
- If not between 11 and 15 ohms
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Each terminal of the component & The component's housing
- If less than infinite resistance
Replace the component: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- If less than infinite resistance
- All OK.
NOTE:
The component's temperature should be 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F) while testing.
Dynamic Test
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: B+ terminal 2/B & 12 V
- Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the test points: Control terminal 1/A & Ground
Verify the component produces a clicking sound: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
- If a click cannot be heard or felt
Replace the component: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
- Go to next step: If a click can be heard or felt
- If a click cannot be heard or felt
- All OK.
CAUTION:
Complete the testing as quickly as possible in order to prevent overheating and damaging the component.
