Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Static Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
  3. NOTE:

    The component's temperature should be 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F) while testing.

  4. Test for 11 to 15 ohms between the test points: Control terminal 1/A & B+ terminal 2/B
    • If not between 11 and 15 ohms 

      Replace the component: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator

    • Go to next step: If between 11 and 15 ohms 
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Each terminal of the component & The component's housing
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  6. All OK.

Dynamic Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator
  3. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: B+ terminal 2/B & 12 V
  4. CAUTION:

    Complete the testing as quickly as possible in order to prevent overheating and damaging the component.

  5. Momentarily connect a jumper wire between the test points: Control terminal 1/A & Ground

    Verify the component produces a clicking sound: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator

    • If a click cannot be heard or felt 

      Replace the component: M47 Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Actuator

    • Go to next step: If a click can be heard or felt 
  6. All OK.
