Preliminary Procedures Disable the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling . Remove the windshield defroster nozzle grille. Refer to Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (Chevrolet / GMC) . Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Replacement (Chevrolet / GMC) . Remove the radio control assembly. Refer to Radio Control Assembly Replacement (Chevrolet / GMC) . Remove the radio front center speaker. Refer to Radio Front Center Speaker Replacement (GMC) . Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Chevrolet / GMC) .
1	Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Bolt (Qty: 2) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)
2	Instrument Panel Upper Bolt (Qty: 18) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten 2.5 N.m (22 lb in)
3	Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Procedures Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool in order to release the retainer clips securing the panel to the instrument panel carrier. NOTE: Some of the electrical connections may be forward in the vehicle close to the tie bar and may not be readily visible or easily reached (example: HMI Module connector). Use special care disconnecting the instrument panel inflator module connector. Unclip the airbag connector from the tie bar, disengage the CPA and separate the connector. Disconnect the electrical connector. Transfer components as necessary.
