Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear:
- Timing chain guides with plastic attachment
- Timing chain tensioner and timing chain tensioner shoe with plastic attachment
- Timing chain and all timing chain sprockets
- Oil pump sprocket
- Oil pump drive chain tensioner
- Clean all sealing surfaces.
- NOTE:
The complete installation procedure of the timing chain lower cover should be done in 20 minutes.
Apply silicone sealing compound (1) to the timing chain lower cover sealing surface. The thickness of the sealing bead should be 2.0 - 3.0 mm (0.079 - 0.118 in)
Install NEW gaskets. (3) [2x]
- Timing Chain Lower Cover (2) - Install
- Install the 11 timing chain lower cover bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown. [11x] 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Crankshaft Position Sensor (2) - Install
- Install the crankshaft position sensor retainer spring (3).
- Crankshaft Position Sensor Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 10 N.m (89 lb in)
- Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal - Install - Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Replacement
- Crankshaft Position Sensor Reluctor Ring - Install - Crankshaft Position Sensor Reluctor Ring Replacement (Automatic Transmission)
Engine Lift Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove
- Engine Lift Bracket-Right Side (1) - Remove
Engine Lift Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten
- Engine Lift Bracket-Left Side (1) - Remove
- Oil Pan - Install - Oil Pan Replacement (Automatic Transmission)
- Timing Chain Upper Cover - Install - Timing Chain Upper Cover Replacement
NOTE:
Before installing the timing chain lower cover, check the components of the timing chain system for damage and wear.
