Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Verify DTC P0046, P0234, P0299, P0651, P226B, P2564, P2565, P2598, P2599 is not set.
    • Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set 
  3. Engine - Idling
  4. Perform the scan tool control function: Turbocharger Vane Position Actuator - Increase & Decrease

    Verify the control rod of the vacuum actuator moves smoothly over the full range.

    • If the control rod does not move smoothly over the full range 
    1. Verify the condition does not exist:
      • Turbocharger Vane Position Actuator Vacuum Hoses - Kinked/Leaking/Incorrect connection/Restricted
      • Turbocharger Vane Position Actuator - Mechanically stuck control rod/Leaking/Visible Damage
      • Q41 Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid ValveVacuum Hoses - Kinked/Leaking/Incorrect connection/Restricted
      • Q41 Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve - Leaking/Mechanically stuck/Visible Damage
      • Turbocharger - Mechanically stuck/Mechanically damaged
      • Vacuum Pump - Leaking/Mechanically damaged
      • If a condition exists

        Repair or replace as necessary.

    • Go to next step: If the control rod moves smoothly over the full range 
  5. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
  6. Verify DTC P003A is not set.
    • Go to next step: If the DTC does not set 
  7. All OK.
