Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2018 GMC Yukon XL, 2018 GMC Yukon, 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2018 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Prepare the camshaft retainer bolts and engine block threaded holes for assembly:
- Thoroughly clean the residue from the bolt threads with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
- Thoroughly clean the residue from the threaded holes of the engine block with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
- Apply threadlocker to 2/3 of the threaded length of the camshaft retainer bolts. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Ensure there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the filled area of the bolts.
- Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes before installation.
- Install the camshaft (1), camshaft retainer (2), and camshaft retainer bolts (3). Camshaft Installation

- Install the valve lifters. Valve Lifter Replacement
- Install the valve lifter follower guide assembly. Valve Lifter Follower Guide Assembly Replacement
- Install the valve lifter oil manifold. Valve Lifter Oil Manifold Replacement .
- Install the engine. Engine Replacement
NOTE:
he threads of the camshaft retainer bolts and threaded holes of the engine block must be free of residue and debris prior to the application of threadlocker to ensure proper adhesion and fastener retention.
