Procedure Using a suitable tool, remove the rear transmission housing oil seal (1) from the transmission housing. Use care in order to avoid damaging the output shaft. Lubricate the seal with clean transmission fluid. Use J-38869 Seal Installer to install the seal. Special Tool J-38869 Seal Installer For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Propeller Shaft Transmission Flange Fluid Seal

NOTE:

Install a NEW seal, it is not reusable.

Procedure

Using a suitable tool, remove the rear transmission housing oil seal (1) from the transmission housing. Use care in order to avoid damaging the output shaft.
Lubricate the seal with clean transmission fluid.
Use J-38869 Seal Installer to install the seal.
