Alignment Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the mode valve link. Refer to Mode Valve Link Replacement .
    NOTE: The HVAC module must be removed to accurately set the mode cam gear timing. Failure to do so may result in poor HVAC performance and damage to the HVAC module.
  2. Inspect the mode valve levers and internal vent valve operation prior to installing the new mode valve link.
  3. Replace the components affecting the proper operation of the vent valves.
  4. Rotate the defrost valve lever (1) and vent valve lever (2) and heater valve lever (3) to the position shown.

  5. Using a small brush, apply a lithium based lubricant to the channels of the heater cam and the mode cam where the levers travel.
  6. Align and install the heater valve link (1) into the heater valve lever pin (2).

  7. Install the screw (3).
  8. Align and install the mode control cam (4) into the defroster valve lever pin (1), vent valve lever pin (2) and heater valve lever pin (3).

  9. Install the mode valve actuator (1) into the mode control cam, aligning the large male tooth gear (2) on the mode control cam with the larger female tooth gear on the mode valve actuator.

  10. Install the mode valve actuator screw (3).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  11. For confirming normal operation operate the heater and air conditioning control.
