Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LV7) .
  4. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (LV7) .
  5. Disconnect the any electrical connectors to set aside the engine main control wiring harness from camshaft cover.
  6. Remove the ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement (LV7) .
  7. Remove the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement (LV7) .
  8. Remove the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement (LV7) .
  9. Remove the engine lift front bracket (1), engine cover bracket (2), engine lift rear bracket (3) and engine pressure oxygen sensor bracket (4).

  10. Remove the vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Assembly Replacement (LV7) .
  11. Remove the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Replacement (LV7) .
  12. Remove the ball stud (1) from the camshaft cover.

  13. Remove the 4 camshaft cover stud bolts (1).

  14. Remove the 13 camshaft cover bolts (2).
  15. Remove the camshaft cover (3).
  16. Remove the camshaft cover gasket (1).
