Removal Procedure

  1. Set the park brake and chock the wheels.
  2. Without draining the coolant or removing the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  3. Remove the ECM from the battery tray. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
  4. Position the transmission manual shift lever into the park position.

  5. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) from the transmission range selector lever.
  6. Press the retainer clip tabs inward in order to release the transmission range selector lever cable (2) from the cable bracket.
  7. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable clip nuts (1).

  8. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable bracket (2) from the underbody.
  9. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  10. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (2) from the shift lever pin (3).

  11. Release the transmission range selector lever cable retainer (1) and remove the transmission range selector cable from the transmission control lever base (4).
  12. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable grommet nuts (1).

  13. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable grommet (2).
  14. Remove the transmission range selector lever cable from the vehicle.
