Adjustment Procedure

NOTE: Adjust the range selector lever cable while the transmission and the gear selector are in the Park position only. Failure to do so may cause mis-adjustment.
  1. Set the park brake and chock the wheels.
  2. Without draining the coolant or removing the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  3. Remove the ECM from the battery tray. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
  4. Verify the transmission range selector lever is in the park position.
  5. Verify the transmission manual shift lever is in the park position.
  6. Disconnect the range selector lever cable terminal (1) from the transmission manual shift lever pin.

  7. Press the locking tabs inward in order to release the range selector lever cable (2) from the cable bracket.
  8. Release the range selector lever cable adjustment lock.

  9. Slide the black tab back.
  10. Insert a screwdriver into the slot under the white tab and pull up on the white tab.

  11. Install the range selector lever cable (2) to the cable bracket.

  12. Connect the range selector lever cable terminal (1) to the transmission manual shift lever pin.
  13. Lock the control cable adjustment tab.

  14. Push down on the white tab to secure in place.
  15. Slide the black tab over the white tab to lock in place.

  16. Install the ECM to the battery tray. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
  17. Install the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  18. Verify the proper operation.
