Adjustment Procedure

  1. Remove the automatic transmission range select lever. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the manual shift shaft position switch electrical connector (1) from the manual shift shaft position switch (2).

  3. Make sure the transmission manual shaft is in the neutral (N) position.
  4. Loosen, DO NOT REMOVE the manual shift shaft position switch bolts (3).
  5. Set DT-51175  range switch alignment checker to the manual shift shaft position switch and adjust neutral (N) position of manual shift shaft position switch.

  6. Tighten the manual shift shaft position switch bolts (1) 6 N.m (53 lb in)

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Remove DT-51175  range switch alignment checker from the manual shift shaft position switch.
  8. Connect the manual shift shaft position switch electrical connector (1) to the manual shift shaft position switch (2).

  9. Install the automatic transmission range selector lever. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Replacement .
  10. Verify the engine only starts in Park or Neutral. If the engine starts in any other position, adjust the switch.
