Removal Procedure

- Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (without Engine Block Heater)Battery Tray Replacement (with Engine Block Heater) .
- Without draining the coolant or removing the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
- Remove the shift lever and selector lever cable (1) from the shift control housing (3).
- Remove the shift lever and selector lever cable (2) from the selector and shift lever cable bracket (4).
- Unclip the wiring harness retainers (1).
- Remove the clutch actuator cylinder front pipe retaining clip (1).
- Disconnect the clutch actuator cylinder front pipe (2) from the clutch actuator cylinder pipe elbow.
- Remove the transmission lower bolt (1).
- Unclip the wiring harness retainers (2) from the engine start bracket (6).
- Disconnect the backup lamp switch electrical connector (3).
- Disconnect the electrical connector (4) from the vehicle speed sensor, if equipped.
- Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connector (5).
- Remove the exhaust muffler. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (L5Q)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LV7) .
- Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LV7)Catalytic Converter Replacement (L5Q) .
- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill .
- Remove the both front wheel drive shafts (1) from the transmission. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
- Remove the transmission upper bolts (1) and nut (2) from the transmission.
- Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture (LV7)Engine Support Fixture (L5Q) .
- Remove the transmission rear mount bracket. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement .
- Remove the transmission rear mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement .
- Remove the transmission mount - left side. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side .
- Remove the transmission mount bracket - left side. Refer to Transmission Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side .
- Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
- Remove the transmission lower bolt (1).
- Remove the transmission side cover (2).
- Separate the transmission from the engine.
- Lower the transmission with the transmission jack far enough to remove the transmission.
