Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (without Engine Block Heater)Battery Tray Replacement (with Engine Block Heater) .
  2. Without draining the coolant or removing the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  3. Remove the shift lever and selector lever cable from shift control housing. Refer to Manual Transmission Shift Lever and Selector Lever Cable Replacement .
  4. Remove the shift interlock washer (2) and bolt (1).

    NOTE: Certainly remove the shift interlock bolt. Otherwise, shift control housing assembly cannot be removed.
  5. Remove the 4 shift control housing bolts (1).

    NOTE: Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL.
  6. Remove the shift control housing assembly (2) from the transmission.
  7. Remove the sealant on the shift control housing and the transmission case.
