Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement: Notes

  1. Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .

  2. Remove the instrument panel tie bar braces (2), (4). Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Replacement

  3. Remove the air inlet grille panel (2). Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .

  4. Remove the instrument panel tie bar nut (1) on the plenum lower panel.

  5. Remove the A/C evaporator and blower module to I/P tie bar securing nuts (1).

  6. Remove the A/C evaporator and blower module to I/P tie bar securing bolts (1).

  7. Remove the steering column to I/P tie bar securing bolt (1).

  8. Remove the steering column to I/P tie bar securing nuts (2).
  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the connector clips from the column.
  10. Lower the steering column carefully.
  11. Remove the I/P tie bar bolts (1) on the left side of I/P.

  12. Remove the I/P tie bar bolts (1) on the right side of I/P.

  13. Note location and routing of the I/P wiring harness prior to removal of the I/P tie bar assembly to ensure proper reinstallation.

  14. Disconnect the wiring harness from the I/P tie bar assembly.
  15. With the aid of an assistant, remove the I/P tie bar assembly (1) from the vehicle.
  16. If replacing the I/P tie bar assembly, transfer all necessary components.
