Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement: Notes

- Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the instrument panel tie bar braces (2), (4). Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Replacement
- Remove the air inlet grille panel (2). Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
- Remove the instrument panel tie bar nut (1) on the plenum lower panel.
- Remove the A/C evaporator and blower module to I/P tie bar securing nuts (1).
- Remove the A/C evaporator and blower module to I/P tie bar securing bolts (1).
- Remove the steering column to I/P tie bar securing bolt (1).
- Remove the steering column to I/P tie bar securing nuts (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the connector clips from the column.
- Lower the steering column carefully.
- Remove the I/P tie bar bolts (1) on the left side of I/P.
- Remove the I/P tie bar bolts (1) on the right side of I/P.
- Note location and routing of the I/P wiring harness prior to removal of the I/P tie bar assembly to ensure proper reinstallation.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the I/P tie bar assembly.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the I/P tie bar assembly (1) from the vehicle.
- If replacing the I/P tie bar assembly, transfer all necessary components.
