Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of an assistant, load the I/P tie bar assembly (1) to the vehicle.

  2. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness into the vehicle position as was noted in the removal and connect the fasteners securing the instrument panel wiring harness to the instrument carrier.
  3. Install the I/P tie bar bolts (1) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft) on the right side of I/P.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  4. Install the I/P tie bar bolts (1) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft) on the left side of I/P.

  5. Raise and install the steering column carefully.

  6. Install the steering column to I/P tie bar securing nuts (2) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  7. Install the steering column to I/P tie bar securing bolt (1) and tighten to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
  8. Install the A/C evaporator and blower module to I/P tie bar securing bolts (1) and tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  9. Install the A/C evaporator and blower module to I/P tie bar securing nuts (1) and tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  10. Install the instrument panel tie bar nut (1) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft) on the plenum lower panel.

  11. Connect the electrical connectors and attach the connector clips to the column.
  12. Install the air inlet grille panel (2). Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .

  13. Install the instrument panel tie bar braces (2), (4). Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Replacement

  14. Install the instrument panel lower trim panel (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
