Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L5Q) .
  3. Disconnect the radiator outlet clamp (1) and hose (2).

  4. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield cover bolts (1).

  5. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield cover (2).
  6. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector (1) and compressor clutch connector (2).

  7. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe bolts (1) and bracket bolt (2).

  8. Remove the engine coolant thermostat housing bolts (1).

  9. Remove the engine coolant thermostat housing (2).
  10. Remove and DISCARD the engine coolant thermostat housing gasket (3).
  11. Remove the 3 water pump bolts (1).

  12. Remove the water pump assembly (2).
  13. Remove and DISCARD the water pump housing gasket (3).
