Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the water pump threads.
  2. Install a NEW water pump housing gasket (3).

  3. Install the water pump assembly (2).
  4. Install the 3 water pump bolts (1) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  5. Install a NEW engine coolant thermostat housing gasket (3).

  6. Install the engine coolant thermostat housing (2).
  7. Install the coolant thermostat housing bolts (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  8. Install the thermostat bypass pipe bolts (1) and bracket bolt (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  9. Connect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector (1) and compressor clutch connector (2).

  10. Install the catalytic converter heat shield cover (2).

  11. Install the catalytic converter heat shield cover bolts (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in)
  12. Connect the radiator outlet clamp (1) and hose (2).

  13. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L5Q) .
  14. Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  15. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
