Removal Procedure
- Remove Cylinder Head. Refer to Cylinder Head Replacement
- Install Engine Mount Bracket (2)
- Install the 2 lower engine mount bracket bolts (1) to the engine block and tighten to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
- Install Engine Mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Lower the CH-49290 support tool with the CH-904 base frame and a jack.
- Remove Oil and Power Brake Booster Pump. Refer to Oil and Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement
- Remove and DISCARD the 4 connecting rod bearing cap bolts (3) from the cylinder 2 and the cylinder 3.
- Remove the 2 connecting rod bearing caps (2) from the cylinder 2 and the cylinder 3.
- Remove the 2 connecting rod lower bearings (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Push the 2 pistons (1) with the 2 connecting rods (2) out of the cylinder 2 and the cylinder 3 upwards.
- Remove the 2 connecting rod upper bearings (3) from the 2 connecting rods (2).
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the 2 bolts (3).
- Remove the EN-51140 fixing tool (2).
- Install the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Hold the timing chain (1) up with a suitable tool like a extension (2).
- Set the cylinder 2 to TDC. Rotate the crankshaft 180 degrees, use a pry bar at the 4 crankshaft pulley bolts (1).
- Remove and DISCARD the 4 connecting rod bearing cap bolts (3) from the cylinder 1 and the cylinder 4.
- Remove the 2 connecting rod bearing caps (2) from the cylinder 1 and the cylinder 4.
- Remove the 2 connecting rod lower bearings (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Push the 2 pistons (1) with the 2 connecting rods (4) out of the cylinder 1 and the cylinder 4 upwards.
- Remove the 2 connecting rod upper bearings (3) from the 2 connecting rods (4).
- Disassemble the piston and connecting rod. Refer to Piston and Connecting Rod Disassemble .

Lay aside in the order as they was removed.
The shear surfaces of the connecting rod and the connecting rod bearing cap form a unique fit and must not be swapped or damaged. Do not lay down on the shear surfaces.
