Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition Off.
  2. Remove the KR22 Fuel Heater Relay from X50A Fuse Block-Underhood.
  3. Ignition On.
  4. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition voltage circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates 
  5. Connect a test lamp between the relay control circuit terminal 2 and a battery voltage.
  6. Ignition On.
  7. Verify the test lamp turns on and off when commanding the Fuel Heater parameter On and Off with a scan tool.
    • If the test lamp is always Off 
    1. Ignition Off.
    2. Disconnect the harness connector X3 at the K20 Engine Control Module.
    3. Test for less than 2 Ω in the relay control circuit end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • If less than 2 Ω
    4. Ignition On, test for less then 1 V between the relay control circuit and ground.
    5. If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage in the circuit.
    6. If less than 1 V, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If the test lamp is always On 
    1. Ignition Off.
    2. Disconnect the harness connector X3 at the K20 Engine Control Module.
    3. Test for infinite resistance between relay control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp turns On and Off 
  8. Test or replace the KR22 Fuel Heater Relay.
