Circuit/System Verification

- Ignition On.
- Verify P0403, P0490, P1407, or P140F is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle .
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Verify the scan tool Desired EGR Position and the EGR Position Sensor parameters remain within 3% when commanding the EGR Valve between 0 - 40% with a scan tool.
- If not within 3%
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- Go to next step: If within 3%
- If not within 3%
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
- Verify a DTC does not set.
- If a DTC sets
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- Go to next step: If a DTC does not set
- If a DTC sets
- All OK.
NOTE:
When using scan tool functions, Engine Reduced Power and Clean Exhaust Filter messages may occur after a short delay when commanding large EGR positions. The messages are a result of ECM protecting hardware during scan tool functions. No DTCs will be stored and the Diesel Particulate Filter does not need to be service cleaned. Exiting device control will restore normal function.
