Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Verify that the (IPC) Instrument Panel Cluster warning indicators are illuminated.
    • If IPC warning indicators do not illuminate 
    1. Test the IPC Cluster fuse for an open.
      • If the fuse is open, repair the short to ground or high resistance in the circuit.
      • If the fuse is not open
    2. Test for battery voltage between the IPC Cluster fuse and ground.
      • If battery voltage is not present, repair the open in the circuit.
      • If battery voltage is present, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
    • Go to next step: If IPC warning indicators illuminate 
  3. Ignition OFF.
  4. Disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K20 Engine Control Module
  5. Ignition ON.
  6. Verify that the Wait to Start indicator does not illuminate.
    • If Wait to Start indicator illuminates 
    1. Test for infinite resistance between the wait to start indicator lamp control circuit ECM connector X1 terminal 19 and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit.
      • If infinite resistance, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
    • Go to next step: If Wait to Start indicator does not illuminate 
  7. Test for less than 1 V between the wait to start indicator lamp control circuit ECM connector X1 terminal 19 and ground.
    • If greater than 1 V 

      Repair the short to voltage in the circuit.

    • If less than 1 V 
  8. Connect a 3A fused jumper wire between the Wait To Start Indicator Control circuit ECM connector X1 terminal 19 and ground. The Wait to Start indicator should illuminate.
    • If Wait to Start indicator does not illuminate 
    1. Test for an open or high resistance in the wait to start indicator lamp control circuit.
      • If an open or high resistance is found, repair the open or high resistance in the circuit.
      • If an open or high resistance is not found, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
    • Go to next step: If Wait to Start indicator illuminates 
  9. Replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
