WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the component: Vacuum Hose @ Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Source Tube - Hose/line going to the component: Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator - Above: Q14 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve
  3. Install the special tool: EN-23738-A Vacuum Pump - Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Source Tube - Hose/line going to the component: Q41 Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve
  4. Engine - Idling
  5. Perform the scan tool control function: Turbocharger Vane Position Actuator - 80%
  6. Verify the special tool reading: Greater than -60 kPa (-8.7 PSI)
    • If -60 kPa (-8.7 PSI) or less

Test or replace the component: Q41 Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve

    • Go to next step: If greater than -60 kPa (-8.7 PSI)
  7. Perform the scan tool control function: Turbocharger Vane Position Actuator - 20%
  8. Verify the special tool reading: Less than -10 kPa (-1.5 PSI)
    • If -10 kPa (-1.5 PSI) or greater

Test or replace the component: Q41 Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve

    • Go to next step: If less than -10 kPa (-1.5 PSI)
  9. Ignition/Vehicle - Off

  11. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  12. Use the special tool: EN-23738-A Vacuum Pump -58 kPa (-0.5 bar, -8.4 PSI) can be achieved and holds steady for 2 min.

    Perform the following action:

    • Verify the control rod of the vacuum actuator moves smoothly over the full range.
    • Verify the scan tool parameter: Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor = 100%
    • If not the specified values
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. Test or inspect for the following: Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Source Tube - Vacuum hoses with kinks, leaks, or improper connections.
      • If a condition exists - Repair or replace as necessary
      • If no condition exists - Test or replace the component: Turbocharger Vane Position Actuator
    • Go to next step: If the specified values
  13. Test or replace the component: Q41 Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve
