Installation Procedure

  1. GM2844696

    Install the steering knuckle upper ball stud (2) to the steering knuckle (1) and the front suspension strut yoke (3).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Install a NEW steering knuckle nut (1).

  3. GM2859255

    Use a customary 1/2 inch torque wrench (1) and a customary 3/8 inch ratchet (4) in conjunction with the CH-49375  wrench to counter the steering knuckle upper ball stud Torx© inlet.

  4. Tighten the nut (3) in a first pass to 45 N.m (33 lb ft) using the CH-49375  wrench (2).
  5. Using the EN-45059  angle meter and the CH-49375  wrench, tighten the steering knuckle nut (1) a final pass to an additional 45 - 60 degrees.
  6. GM2844698

    Install a NEW steering knuckle upper camber adjust bolt (3) and a NEW nut (2) and tighten nut (2) in a first pass to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  7. Using the EN-45059  angle meter, tighten the steering knuckle upper camber adjust nut (2) a final pass to an additional 45 - 60 degrees.
  8. Install a NEW steering knuckle lower camber adjust bolt (4) and a NEW nut (1) and tighten nut (1) in a first pass to 115 N.m (85 lb ft).
  9. Using the EN-45059  angle meter, tighten the steering knuckle lower camber adjust nut (1) a final pass to an additional 45 - 60 degrees.
  10. Install the front brake shield. Refer to Front Brake Shield Replacement .
  11. Perform a Wheel Alignment Measurement , and adjust the front camber. For adjustment refer to Front Caster and Camber Adjustment , and Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
