Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Transfer or replace components as needed.

    With the aid of a second mechanic place the folding top (1) to the vehicle, resting on the support (2) and the body (arrows).

    NOTE:

    DO NOT bend or stretch the hydraulic lines.

    NOTE:

    The hydraulic connections must point to the rear of the vehicle.

    Install the folding top hydraulic cylinders to the folding top hinge.

  4. Install the 3 pins (2).
  5. Install the 3 clamps (1).
  6. Repeat on the other side.
  7. With the aid of a second technician install the folding top.
    NOTE:

    Third mechanic removes the support.

    • Hang folding top hinge onto folding top anchor plates.
  8. Remove the straps from the folding top hinge.
  9. Remove the tape from the folding top stowage compartment lid weather strip.
  10. With the aid of an assistant close folding manually until it rests on the roof front header panel but is not locked. Folding Top Manual Operation 
  11. Secure the folding top tension bow into opening position. See position 2 in Folding Top Positions Overview .

    Clip in hydraulic lines.

  13. Connect the folding top electrical connectors (1).
  14. Install new cable straps as marked on the hydraulic lines.

    Install the folding top hydraulic cylinder - rear left side upper (1).

    1. Install the pin (3).
    2. Install the clamp (2).
    3. Repeat the step on the right side.

    Install the folding top bolts (2) on both sides but do not tighten them.

    NOTE:

    Simplified graphic for better understanding.

    Check the alignment between folding top hinge (1) and folding top anchor plate (2).

    1. The folding top hinge MUST be fully seated (arrows) on the folding top anchor plate.
      NOTE:

      It might be necessary for a second mechanic to hold the folding top hinge into position.

    2. Tighten the 3 folding top bolts to 31 N.m (23 lb ft).
    3. Repeat the step on the right side.
  18. Open and close the folding top manually and completely to check the correct function and movement. Folding Top Manual Operation 
  19. Connect the battery. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  20. Operate the folding top to confirm proper operation.
  21. Install the quarter window trim finish panel. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Replacement
  22. Install the quarter upper trim panel. Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
  23. Install the body side front lower trim panel. Body Side Front Lower Trim Panel Replacement
  24. Install the rear seat back cushion pad. Rear Seat Back Side Pad Replacement
  25. Install the rear seat cushion. Rear Seat Cushion Removal and Installation
  26. Install the quarter window outer belt sealing strip. Quarter Window Outer Belt Sealing Strip Replacement
  27. Fold the rear seat back to the full upward position and secure the lock.
  28. Close all windows.
