Folding Top Adjustment (With BO-51074-NA Remove/Install and Adjustment Set): Measurement

NOTE:

Assure that the vehicle is standing on wheels and on leveled surface.

NOTE:

The folding top hinges left side and right side must always be independently adjusted.

NOTE:

Both sides can have different measurements.

  1. Bring the folding top into position 3. Refer to Folding Top Positions Overview .
  2. Remove the quarter window outer belt sealing strip. Refer to Quarter Window Outer Belt Sealing Strip Replacement .
  3. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the rear seat back cushion pad. Refer to Rear Seat Back Side Pad Replacement .
  5. Remove the body side front lower trim panel. Refer to Body Side Front Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. Remove and lay aside the quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  7. Remove the quarter window trim finish panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .

    NOTE:

    Second technician required.

    Position the BO-51074-NA  remove/ install adjustment set on the vehicle.

    • Pivot (1) must seat solidly onto the roof front header panel on both sides.
    • The pivots (2) should be tight fitting into the folding top front latch striker on both sides.
    • Pivot (3) must fit into the center hole of the roof front header panel.
    • Pivot (4) must fit into the center hole of the rear seat back body rear panel.
    • NOTE:

      The spindles (5) are only meant to stabilize the position of the gauge. The spindles are NOT meant to adjust the position of the gauge.

    • Turn the spindles down until they have contact with the rear seat back body rear panel.

    Overview of the measurement planes.

    • Measurement plane I (1).
    • Measurement plane II (2).
    • Measurement plane III (3).
  10. Feeler gauges are used for adjustment of the folding top hinges.

    Remove the single feeler gauges (1) from the feeler gauge package (2).

    Measure distance at measurement plane I (1).

    • Combine the single feeler gauges to a package until you have a precise and accurate measurement.
  13. Note down the measured distance for measurement plane I.
  14. Measurement plane I and measurement plane II should have the same distance. Tolerance ± 0.5 mm
  15. Determine distance for measurement plane III according to measurement plane II.
