Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Apply a light coat of grease (1) on the inside of the ignition coil opening (2). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers
    WARNING: In order to avoid flying sparks and electric shorts, ONLY use the GM special grease (non electrically conducting) for the ignition coils. The usage of other grease could result in a fatal electric shock, fire and severe damage to the vehicle.

  2. Use the tip of the grease tube (1) to allot the grease onto the ignition coil (2).

  3. The measurement (a) of the grease tube tip (without thread) is equal to the measurement (b) of the ignition coil coating area.
  4. Ignition Coil (2) - Install [4x]

  5. Ignition Coil Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] 10 N.m (89 lb in)
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  6. Ignition Coil Electrical Connector (1) - Connect [4x]

  7. Battery Negative Cable - Connect Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (HP4)
  8. Intake Manifold Cover - Install Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
