Removal Procedure

- Remove the intake camshaft actuator. Refer to Camshaft Position Intake Actuator Replacement (LKW) .
- Remove the fuel pump. Refer to Fuel Pump Replacement .
- Remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts (1).
NOTE:
- Locate and use pry points to aid in removing the cap.
- When using the pry points to remove the front bearing cap, use a protective material between the camshaft lobes, the cylinder head flange and pry tool.
- Use suitable tool simultaneous to pry the upper front bearing cap away from the lower bearing cap evenly.
- Remove the camshaft bearing caps (2) and (3).
- Remove the intake camshaft (1).
